Welcome! Success begins with YOU!

Dear students and parents,

I wish for each student to be successful in my class, and one of the key components to that success is staying informed of the expectations. Beginning this year, I will be posting to Schoology. On your Schoology page, you will find the Class Rules/Syllabus that you were given and that you signed at the beginning of the year (or your entrance into my class). To find this information, simply click on my class under your COURSES in your Schoology account. Parents, I will give you the code to access your student's Schoology account if you email me. I will also update the course calendar daily. To access, click on the calendar icon on my course page. Each day will have the posting of "Daily Agenda." Click on that to access the details of each day's agenda, any files that may be attached, and upcoming events and/or due dates.

I look forward to working with you throughout the year. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or comments.

Ms. Cook

Contact information:
Email: rcook@nlmusd.k12.ca.us. This is the best way to contact me, as I check my email several times a day.

Want an additional way to stay informed? Sign up for reminders through Remind.
Remind: Safe Classroom Communication is an app that allows students and parents to receive text messages with reminders from the teacher. Subscribers can also initiate "chats" to ask questions of the teacher. Your phone number will never be accessible to me, nor mine to you--they remain private. Please sign up with your REAL full name, so that if I need to remind you separately of something, I can :)
To sign up:
  1. Download the free app to your smart phone, then join my class with the following codes:
For ERWC Language Arts 12: @CookERWC20
    For Language Arts 11: @cookla1121
  2. Text the appropriate code above to 81010

SIGN-UP CODES FOR TURNITIN.COM

Almost all projects and essays must be submitted through turnitin.com for credit.  This site is used by many of the teachers on campus to help reduce/eliminate cheating and plagiarism. The site produces originality reports and shows, if there is plagiarism, the source of it. A "Creating Your Turnitin.com Account" handout can be found under your course page on Schoology. If you already have an established account and need the ID# or password (enrollment key), you can find that on your Schoology page as well.
