Geena N. Biondi graduated from La Serna High School in Whittier in 1996. She received two A.A degrees from Pasadena City College, in Music and Liberal Studies. In 2000, Ms. Biondi transferred to CSU Los Angeles, where she continued to pursue musical studies and earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Instrumental Performance in 2003. While at CSULA, Ms. Biondi studied Saxophone with Dr. Jeffrey Benedict and Oboe with Mr. Phil Feather, and performed in ensembles conducted by Dr. Thomas Verrier, Dr. Abel Ramirez, Dr. John Kennedy, Dr. Paul De Castro, and Dr. Jeff Benedict. Ms. Biondi was a member of many performing groups, including the WUHSD All-District Honor Band, PCC Official Rose Parade Honor Band, CBDA All-State Honor Band, Marching Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Orchestra, Afro-Latin Ensemble, Jazz-Rock Big Band, Swing Band, Jazz Combo, Pop-Rock Ensemble, Opera Orchestra, Saxophone Quartet, Woodwind Ensemble, University Pep Band, California All-Collegiate Honor Band, various musical theatre Pit Orchestras, Disneyland Band, and more. Ms. Biondi has been the recipient of the John Philip Sousa, Director’s, Bank of America, Freshman Faculty Honors, and Lancer Band Awards, and also of the Eilar, MTA, Thomas, and Holland scholarships. Ms. Biondi remains an active woodwind performer and private instructor. Ms. Biondi has served as Teacher, Band Director, and Director of Music at La Mirada High School since 2006, where she directs and conducts the Matador Marching Band and Color Guard, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Intermediate Band, VAPA Academy Spring Musical, and teaches the AP Music Theory and VAPA Professional Applications course. She was the recipient of the 2014 LMHS Teacher of the Year, and was a Top 5 Finalist for the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School DISTRICT Teacher of the Year. Ms. Biondi resides in Whittier, with her partner Melisande, their two cats, and their two turtles. Ms. Biondi loves food, her spouse, her students, animals, baseball, hockey, and….all things MUSIC!!
